Card Games

We all used to play card games when we were kids, didn’t we, like Durak (Jackass) or Gaper? Do you remember the latter? Each player holds four cards in his hand, and then passes one of them facedown to the player nearby, and so forth circle-wise. He has to pass the “odd” ones, hereby aiming at collecting in his hand the same-picture (or “pip”) cards of all the four suits. The one, who has collected his four cards hand, has to put his hand face down on the table without appearing to do so. The player, who has noticed that the latest (after all the rest have collected their hands) is the loser.

Apart from the so-called family or folk games (as the one described above) there are also the so-called commercial and gambling games. You know that some players are so much liable to the passion of gambling, that they can lose their fortune or become addicted to gambling. The playing cards can simply ruin someone’s life.

As it happened to the main character of Pushkin’s short story “The Queen of Spades”. Some critics value this story as his best work and the most characteristic of him in prose. Firstly, the main character – young military engineer – lives in an unpretending way, amassing his fortune and staying away from any gambling games. Then, after performing some malign deeds (even with a tragic outcome), he finds out the winning secret of three cards (three, seven, ace). He starts playing Faro – a very popular card game in Russia then-, and bets his entire savings. He is quite lucky at first, but in the end, he mistakenly places his bet on the Queen of Spades, rather than the ace, and loses everything. Hermann goes mad and is committed to an asylum. He answers no questions, but merely mutters with unusual rapidity: “Three, seven, ace! Three, seven, queen!”

We strongly recommend you either to read this story or to watch its screen adaption, where the main theme is of “crime and punishment”. The unscrupulous young man launches along the downward path for the purpose of his financial success (seduction of the young ward, threatening of the old countess), but by fatal chance, instead of the expected success he loses no only his well-being but also his sanity. (The last was especially frightening for Pushkin: remember his poem “Oh, save me God from going mad”).

Arcade Games

You definitely know what arcade games are like. Arcades are the most simple, sometimes even primitive, online or PC games. The word “arcade” originally means “an architectural structure”, “a series of adjoining arches”, and the first arcade machines or so called coin-operated entertainment machines were installed in such arcade-shaped shops. The aim in any arcade game is to score as many points as possible. The arcades are usually fast-paced and do not require much learning. The only skill required is the responsiveness or, in other words, the ability of the player to respond quickly. Arcades are especially popular among kids. They all like overcoming obstacles (as in the Platformers) and racing cars (in Arcade Racings). In arcade games kids can also fight (in Fightings/Wrestlings), without getting any bruises or bumps, by the way, or even shoot (in the Virtual Shootings). However, they can get hooked on gaming, identifying themselves with the in-game avatars. They are at risk of turning into compulsive players and can hardly tear themselves away from the gameplay. So, never allow your kids to play for too long.

Certainly, you would not find all the variety of arcade games on this site (there are too many of them in the virtual world), but the ones you will see here will enable you to assess the soft developers’ gems. You can kick the balls (in “Penalty Shootout”), roll the dice (in “Dice Twister” or “RollerCoaster”), and even race the horses (in “Horse Racing”). In addition, here you can play online arcade games free of charge. If you decide to take your chance and win some real money, come on, deposit your cash and start betting!

Many prominent personalities were gamblers. Dostoyevsky, in particular, used to play roulette and lost lots of money. Finally, he gave up this addiction, supported by his wife who loved him truly.

Interestingly, roulette is also called “devil’s wheel”, since the total sum of all the numbers on its wheel equals 666 (the Number of the Beast). A legend says that the inventor of the European roulette François Blanc (the entrepreneur and the owner of gambling houses in Germany in the middle of XIX century) made a deal with devil. In the 19th century, roulette spread all over Europe and the US, becoming one of the most famous and most popular casino games. At present roulette is quite popular too, and is even called “the evil King of the Casino”.

Everyone knows that roulette is a casino game named after the French word meaning little wheel. To determine the winning number and color, a croupier spins a wheel in one direction, then spins a ball in the opposite direction around a tilted circular track running around the circumference of the wheel. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls onto the wheel and into one of 37 (in French/European roulette) or 38 (in American roulette) colored and numbered pockets on the wheel. The bets are placed on the roulette table layout. In the game, players may choose to place bets on either a single number or a range of numbers, the colors red or black, or whether the number is odd or even.

Nowadays, thanks to the worldwide web, excellent software and new technologies, you can enjoy roulette everywhere.

Video Poker

We all know, that the confusion of two separate and unlike things may result in something absolutely new and unique. Like green color being an outcome of blue and yellow colors confusion, video poker is an “offspring” of a union between a slot machine and a five-draw poker. A new game has “inherited” the automatic gaming from a slot machine, and card combinations from poker, becoming a unique “best seller” in gambling industry.

Interestingly, in New York of the far 1891, one could play with a “forefather” of a present gambling machine. It looked like a big metal box, containing five reels with the card symbols on them. It also had a special lever, and in case of a winning combination, a gamer was credited with a cigar or a pitcher of beer.

Surely, modern video pokers are much more complicated, bright, and perfect. There are special computerized consoles in the real gambling houses now. Moreover, soft developers have created lots of programs, sites, applications, etc. and, therefore, have enabled gamers to play their beloved video poker everywhere.

As it was mentioned before, video poker rules come from five-card draw poker (the simplest variant of poker). Actually, it is often the first variant usually learned by most new players and commonly played in home games.

There are a few dozens of video poker types, but the most common are the following: Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Joker Poker Aces and Faces, Bonus Poker, Tens or Better. No matter what game you would choose, you are sure to enjoy it greatly! Please, take an advantage of playing the free modes, If you are not an advanced gamer yet.

If you were older than twenty-five, most probably, you would think about gambling machines, because they were the most beloved kids’ entertainment in 1980-1990 years. Kids could play simple games for small fees. The coins had to be inserted into special opening on the machines named “slots”. Although, these entertainment machines, so popular then, have already become outdated, some former players still long for them. As an example, in the novel “Pinball 1973” written by a famous contemporary Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, the main character launched out in search of an old pinball machine, he used to play on, as he wanted to reunite with it. Eventually he found it in a private collection.

Slot machines are also known as one-armed bandits because they were originally operated by one lever on the side of the machine and because of their ability to leave the gamer impoverished.

Most of the other modern entertainment machines are called “arcades”.

Due to modern technologies, slot game variations as well as symbol designs are countless.

Craps & Sic Bo

Historians say that people have been gambling since ancient times, and rolling dice was the oldest kind of gambling. Dice were used for foretelling as well. The very first dice were made of animals’ bones and teeth.

Dice were found during excavations of ancient cities around the globe, from ancient Sumer and Egypt to China and India. Ancient Greeks and Romans played dice, and so did Maya, Aztecs and Incas. Many dice games survived up to now, and two of them – craps and sic-bo – gained worldwide popularity.

Both games date back centuries. The game very similar to Sic Bo was played in ancient China. Craps is a little younger: it is considered the successor of game called “Hazard”, known in medieval England. Both games came to America with the flow of immigrants, and soon became a popular pastime. Nowadays, these two games that originated at the opposite ends of Eurasia continent, peacefully coexist in the same section of online casinos and are equally loved throughout the world.

Craps is played with two dice, and Sic Bo – with three. For all their differences, for example, in design of the gaming table or number of players, both games have the same goal: players bet on a certain outcome of the roll of dice.

Another thing that both games have in common is the fact that both these dice games are almost pure games of chance. In other words, the odds of winning is determined by luck rather than by skills and experience of the player.

Nevertheless, some players spend years learning how to throw dice in a certain way to get particular combinations; some even claim they sometimes succeed. Well, one way or another, it is a factor of unpredictability that makes dice games so exciting. Isn’t that the reason why people have been playing dice for millennia?

Bingo & Keno

Do you like lotteries? If yes, you are in a good company: millions of people love lotteries and enthusiastically take part in them. Lotteries come in numerous formats both offline and online.

Bingo and keno are among the most popular lotteries in the world. Simple rules, exciting but relatively easy process of gaming attract people who wish just to relax after a tiring work and maybe win something – why not?

In bingo, the player’s aim is to match randomly drawn numbers with the numbers printed on a special card. The first person who makes a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line (or, in some kinds of bingo, covers the entire card) calls out “bingo!” and wins the game.

Keno also involves numbers drawn at random (by means of a ball draw or a random number generator in some of online versions). But, unlike bingo, sections with numbers in keno tickets have to be marked by the player before the ball draw starts. The more numbers on the balls match the pre-marked numbers on the ticket, the more the player wins.

Did you know that both games are pretty old – centuries old, in fact? The game of bingo is very similar to a lottery game “Il Giuoco del Lotto d’Italia” played in Italy in as far back as 1530. Keno is even older: a Chinese game with similar rules is mentioned in Ancient Chinese scrolls dated 200th B. C. It is known that this Ancient Chinese “ancestor” of keno helped raise funds to build the Great Wall of China. Nowadays, Churches or charity organizations often stage games of modern bingo to raise funds for various philanthropy projects.

Both games have a great number of variants, each of them slightly different from others. So, before playing a game of keno or bingo in a particular online casino, you’d better refresh your memory about the rules. Playing a game or two for free before placing real-money bets is also a good idea. Just in case.

Advantages of an online casino games:

1. You needn`t go anywhere. You can play from any place where there is a computer connected to Internet. If you play from home, you are sure feeling comfortable in your cosy armchair; and you are the one who chooses the music (but, alas, the one who supplies the drinks, too). You can even play from work (well, I`m just kidding, of course you won`t).

2. No face control, no drunk or annoying neighbors and spectators. Your favorite slot-machine or the table with your favorite game is ALWAYS available.

3. Compared to a `real` casino, everything is going faster online. You change games just by clicking a couple of buttons; dealing cards and the game itself takes less time, money transfer takes only several seconds (receiving cash takes longer). You needn`t collect your winnings every time you win – the money will be securely stored at your casino account. You can withdraw it the next day, or in a week – at any time you return there.

4. You can play much more games online than in a real casino. Players benefit more if they play online – online casinos are cheaper to maintain, that`s why they can afford to be more generous. Online casinos offer jackpots you will never find in any real casino.

Have a good time with any online game you choose.

We wish you good luck!
